  • News: The firing of 200 immigrant workers in Berkeley and the upcoming Feb 17 Dignity March to restore the workers' dignity and raise awareness around labor and immigration injustices. at 10 am at Civic Center Park, Berkeley

  • Musica!: Lila Downs! We speak with Lila Downs and walk through her new album: “Picados y Milagros” We will offer this hot new CD as a thank you gift for donating to KPFA the album and a pair of tickets to the upcoming concert- Feb 23rd How cool is that?


  • Poetry: Noted poet, activist, scholar Rafael Jesus Gonzalez reads us his poems of love in English and Spanish, accompanied by Gerardo Marin of flute. What a Valentine treat!

Daniel del Solar

La Raza Chronicles honors the memory of Daniel del Solar, a contributor and staunch supporter of our program who passed away on Friday, January 13th. We miss him dearly.

Tonight’s program includes:

  • “The second generation: La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley moves Forward", a live conversation with the members of the 2nd generations of La Pena, the children of the establishing collective workers who will lead La Pena into the next 30 years. Speaking will be Alex Leenson, Nicolas Cabrera, Bianca Torres and a special clip about the recent award received by Paul Chin, La Pena executive director.


  • Avoctja speaks with Julieta Kusnir about her up coming fundraising event at La Pena ( 1/29/12) to buy a wheelchair van. Avoctja will also share her beautiful poetry set to jazz.


  • Nina Serrano reads her poem to Daniel del Solar.
